This is a great 3D ESRI SHP data file (shape file, shp and shx) viewer for iPhone. SHP is the native format for ArcGIS (ArcEdit, ArcView, etc.) and it is supported by many other third party GIS applications. With help of this app, you can take your GIS data files with you no matter where you are, at home or traveling abroad, and view them with your phone directly.
The app provides many 3D features including rotating model with finger movement, zooming in/out, panning, changing color, etc. You can also change rendering light intensity and background color. The app supports loading multiple models at the same time so that you can view them together. It is extremely helpful when you want to compare your data sets to make sure everything works correctly. You can also use the app to figure out basic dimensions of your model, for instance, the length along x, y or z direction, total length, etc.
You can add files to the apps document folder through iTunes and use the file open button of the app to load them. You can also use the app to open shape files you received as email attachment. Just tap on the attachment in you email app, the 3D viewer would be launched automatically. Or you can use it to open 3D files from third party file management app, like DropBox, etc. The app supports opening shape files from zip directly. Therefore, you can zip SHP, SHX and DBF file together and use the app to open it. It is a easier way to manage your GIS data asset.
The app is not just a 3D data file viewer. It is also a file organizer. The app provides you file sorting features so that you can find your model quickly. You can sort by file name or file creation time. If you have too many models in the apps folder, you can use delete button of the app to remove the files you dont need any more. The app supports folders so that you can create folders and put files for different project in different folder. The app provides zip and unzip function. You can use it to zip / unzip compressed files in .zip format. The app also tells you information about your files, for instance, the size and creation time of the files. If you need share 3D model with your friend, coworker, client or partner, you can use in-app email feature to send your model out as email attachment.
The app provides native support for you to view documents in many different formats, including Microsoft Words (.doc, .docx), Excel (.xls, .xlsx), PowerPoint(.ppt, .pptx), Apple Numbers (.numbers), Pages(.pages), Keynote(.key), Adobe PDF (.pdf) and multimedia files including image (.png and .jpg) and video (.mov,.mp4,.3gp). This way, you can manage and view not only 3D files, but also other files of your project.
The app provides unique in-app reviewing feature. You can easily take screen-shot of your file (3D or office document), draw your comment on the screen-shot and email it to your friends. The app supports many drawing elements, including free form, line, text, rectangle, circle, ellipse, etc. It supports undo/redo.
